Jail officials, Dec gang rape accused trade allegations

Tihar Jail authorities on Thursday filed a complaint in a fast track court here alleging misconduct and gross violation of rules by one of the 16 December gang rape accused who in turn claimed that jail officials are regularly beating him up. ‘A complaint filed by inmates of ward number 1 regarding misconduct and harassment in the prison by accused Akshay Singh has been received. Application is moved on behalf of accused Akshay stating, inter alia, that he has been beaten by one Mandeep Dahiya and Jitender Patel, both jail officials,’ the court said.
Taking note of the allegations made by Akshay, additional sessions judge (ASJ) Yogesh Khanna directed the jail authorities to get him medically examined and to also inquire into the whole matter and file a report on Friday. ‘It is stated by the counsel for Akshay that he has been beaten on his chest. His medical examination be done. Jail superintendent is directed to inquire into the matter and file a report by Friday,’ the ASJ said.
The jail authorities in their complaint to the court had alleged that they have received several complaints against Akshay from other inmates.
