J K Cement Group to adopt Khadi for staff uniforms

The proactive measures taken by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) new Chairman, V K Saxena to boost the brand image of Khadi is paying off.
J K Cements group, which owns eight large cement plants, four thermal power plants, cotton and steel mills and various school, colleges, universities, hospitals, spread in various states i.e Rajasthan, MP, Karnataka and UP has agreed to use Khadi alone for uniforms for its workers and staff in its various plants as also for students studying in its schools and colleges across the country to mark the centenary of the arrival of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa.
In a letter to Saxena, J K Cements CMD, Yadupati Singhania said, “2016 being the centenary year of completion of Mahatma Gandhi’s arrival in India from South Africa, I have also decided that uniforms of workers and staff in our plants, uniforms of students in our schools and colleges at various locations will be of khadi as a tribute to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi.”
The order from J K Cements assumes special significance since it is the first organisation among private sector in the country to adopt khadi for its staff and workers and also for schools and colleges run by it.
