IVF equipment goes missing from Moolchand hospital lab

On Tuesday, the hospital staff made a call to the police control room at around 2 pm and informed about the theft. Suroshree Banerjee, HR manager, who reported the matter to the police alleged that a technician, Paritosh Kumar Sarkar, found that the equipment had gone missing from the laboratory when he opened it as his daily routine.
Sarkar informed his senior officials immediately. It was learnt that the laboratory was closed on Monday at around 5 pm by another technician, Amit. Later on Tuesday morning, the articles were found missing.
During the investigation, it was found that eight bottles of sperm handling solution, bottles of V5 Plus (Clevage), G-2 V5 Plus (Blastocyst), Ovoil (culture oil), G-IVF Plus (fertilization), G-Mops Plus (flushing) were missing.
Along with them five stripper tips 135 UM, five strippers 175 UM, five stripper tips 275 UM were also missing. Further, it was learnt that 20 pieces of ICSI INJ PPT-KMPIP-1035 were also missing.
Vitrification CRYO LEAF-40771401, Vitrification warming and freezing bottle were also stolen by the thieves who are yet to be identified. Sperm freezing media (10ML) medicult bottle was also missing.
Speaking to Millennium Post, the hospital authorities confirmed the incident and said that it has shocked the concerned authorities.
The investigating officer did not disclose any details about the availability of CCTV cameras near the laboratory where the theft took place. Based on the complaint filed by Sarkar, a case under the relevant section of theft has been registered at Lajpat Nagar police station. ‘Further investigation is underway and both the technicians are being intensively quizzed,’ he added.
