West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi on Thursday said it was up to the state government to consider his suggestions and introduce a ‘Model Code of Conduct’ as a rule for a cordial academic atmosphere in universities.
“I had given suggestions to the state government. Now it is the job of the state government to make a rule,” Tripathi told reporters here on Thursday.
The Governor had suggested <g data-gr-id="15">to set</g> up an expert committee comprising three to five members, to advise the state government on the proposed code.
"A committee will look into the suggestions and take a call on them," he added.
Earlier this month, state Higher Education Minister Partha Chatterjee admitted having received the "suggestions" from the Governor and had said that such a 'Model Code of Conduct' should also be “introduced at the college level”.
Chatterjee also promised of taking up the matter with the Chief Minister.
