Demanding Metro Adalats and alleging rehabilitation failure of DMRC, a senior citizen and resident of Tilak Nagar wrote a letter to the Ministry of Law, saying a large number of court cases related to unlawful acquisition of private properties in Delhi were pending against Delhi Metro.
Sarla Devi Jain said, ‘DMRC acquired our property WZ-101 Meenakshi Garden in New Delhi to build the Subhash Nagar station in December 2003. A meagre compensation was paid after court intervention and that too six months after the acquisition.’ She alleged no alternative accommodation was given. ‘DMRC wrongly informed us that the space next to Tilak Nagar police station, meant for us, was earmarked for a power house.’
