IPL spot-fixing scandal: Delhi police arrest Dawood aide

The Delhi police claimed yet another breakthrough in investigations in the IPL6 spot-fixing scandal with the arrest of Firoz Ansari (38), a close aide of Dawood Ibrahim and Chotta Shakeel from Mumbai on late Tuesday night.
The police received a tip-off about Ansari’s location during its interrogation of Ramesh Vyas, a top brass bookie who was arrested by the Mumbai police.
‘On Monday night, we got some information about the role of Ansari who is in direct touch with Shakeel. Ansari was a part of IPL 6 spot-fixing and betting. On the basis of the information raids were launched in Mumbai and Ansari was arrested from Kamatipura,’ a source said.
Interestingly, Millennium Post has found that Ansari was at one point an informer of the Mumbai police. Vyas was reportedly arrested on the information provided by Ansari. The accused reportedly stays at Oshiwara in Mumbai.
‘Vyas and Ansari are long time rivals. Vyas was double crossing the underworld as he was in touch with D-company and Chotta Rajan. He used to leak a lot of information to the police,’ sources said.
Meanwhile, the tiff between Mumbai and Delhi police still continues because earlier the former had let Ansari go despite knowing that he was also a part of the spot-fixing scandal as he acted as their informer.
Sources in special cell said, ‘A mobile phone has been recovered from Ansari that will provide many clues about the underworld.
