IP University’s 14th annual cultural festival on 1 Feb

A renowned university of Delhi, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, popularly known as IP University, will be organising its 14th annual cultural festival – Anugoonj, starting 1 February at Dwarka campus.

Various universities are expected to participate in the three-day event. Apart from 11 university schools and Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT), all 106 affiliated institutes of the university are participating in the mega cultural conclave.

Renowned theatre personality Bhanu Bharti will inaugurate the event. The vice chancellor of the university, Prof D K Bandyopadhyay will preside over the function.

National School of Drama would be performing on the inaugural day. The director of students welfare of the university and the man behind the success of the preceding years of the event Prof Anup Singh Beniwal said, ‘Like last year around five dozens cultural programmes have been earmarked but mention must be made for a play Dafa 292, which will be staged by the artistes of National School of Drama (NSD) in the evening of inaugural day.

According to the schedule, various performances will be held through the three-day event.

The sources confirmed that Danish Hussain and Mahmood Farooqi would perform the lost art of story telling ‘Dastangoi’ on second day. On the concluding evening, Neeraj Shridhar of Bombay Vikings will perform.

‘We are expecting around 30,000 to 40,000 students every day like last year,’ said Prof Beniwal.
