Investors lose Rs 3.47 trillion in 2016 amid global mkt crash

Total market valuation of firms listed on the BSE eroded by nearly Rs 3.5 lakh crore in just five trading sessions this year as China’s move to depreciate its currency led to a massive sell-off globally. The total investor wealth, measured in terms of collective value of all listed stocks, fell to Rs 96,91,131 crore, down from 100.38 lakh crore at the end of last trading session of 2015. In the first five days of this year, investors have got poorer by Rs 3.47 lakh crore, while during the entire year of 2015 investors wealth got richer by just Rs 2 lakh crore.
