Inter-state robber arrested by Crime Branch

Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested an inter-state robber who is wanted in four criminal cases including dacoity and carjacking. In a bid to avert the arrest, he opened fire at the police team.

The accused has been identified as Sonu, a resident of Mandawali in Delhi. He is an active member of the Hitender, alias Chotu, gang and was involved in a daring daylight dacoity in Keshav Puram last year.

He, along with Hitender, Deshraj, Aman and Ankit committed this dacoity after firing a gun shot thereby injuring the victim who was riding on a motorcycle and Rs 20 lakh was looted from the victim.

In 2015, a reward of Rs 25,000 was declared on his arrest but he remained absconding leaving no clue about his whereabouts.

According to police, a team was constituted to work upon the top listed criminals of Delhi.

Sonu was thus short-listed and the team started working upon this target. Based on secret information a trap was laid. As per input, Sonu came on a Honda Sterner motorcycle and started waiting for his associates behind Raj Ghat.
