Also, there were more than 100 people in the party, of which only 44 could be detained and the rest had fled the spot abandoning their vehicles in the farmhouse, said an official of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) that led the joint raid on the farmhouse with Gurgaon Police on the wee hours of December 25.
Later, seven people were arrested after the police received reports of blood test and their samples were found to have contained narcotic substances. They were identified as Lokesh Chopra, Almeer Jamal, Aditya Narayan, Rahul Kumar, Kandharv Bansal, Rohit Kumar and Joshua, said a source. He further said, while Lokesh and Almeer were sent to judicial custody, the others got bail on Friday. As narrated by a highly placed source, the invitation message for the party, which was circulated through Facebook and Whatsapp, had detailed instructions about how to reach the farmhouse. The organiser had placed cars (with registration numbers communicated to the invitees for proper navigation) and “their men” sitting inside them. These men were communicating among themselves, acting as nodes in a network, and kept each other informed about every vehicle that passed their sight and turned towards the mentioned destination.
“When we took right after a Wet and Weld signage (as mentioned in the leaked message) and covered around 8 kms by our official vehicles, we were informed about the intel network which the organisers had planted. We then had to leave our cars, call for personal vehicles and cabs, and then proceed towards the farmhouse,” said an official.
The destination, identified as Tiwari Farmhouse in the outskirts of the city and reportedly owned by one Ashok Tiwari, was an open confinement measuring around five hectares. Tiwari’s role is now being probed as villagers there informed cops about 10 to 12 parties which were reportedly organised in the same premises.
There was a stage set with a disc jockey and lights arranged that could hardly illuminate an area of approximately 100 to 200 metres around the stage. The rest of the place was dark.
“From preliminary investigations, it appears that the Swiss woman — who was detained along with 43 others – was a stage decorator who was called there by the event management firm that organised the party. She apparently has no direct involvement but can lead the police to the core of the case. However, more investigation is required to draw sharp conclusions,” said a source.
