The Noida police have directed the IT and BPO companies in Noida and Greater Noida to install CCTV inside and outside of their premises and fit their cabs with GPS system for providing better security to women employees.
‘We have directed all the IT and BPO companies in Noida to install CCTV inside and around their premises to enhance security of women employees,’ said Praveen Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Gautam Buddha Nagar district.
‘The companies have also been directed to get the credential of their drivers and assistants verified by the police,’ added Kumar.
The instructions came in a high level meeting of the police, Chief Executive Officer of Noida and representatives of the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) in Noida on Tuesday.
In the meeting, representatives of 20 major companies like NIIT, Mentor Graphics, Feedback Infra, Accenture, Free scale Semiconductor, Ericsson Global Services India Ltd and Barclays took part and assured the police that they would implement the security measures.
According to the representatives of the NASSCOM, around one third employees in IT and BPO sector in Noida and Greater Noida are women.
In the meeting, the NASSCOM representatives also raised the issue of illegal encroachments on their land and traffic jam in the city. The CEO directed the officers of the departments concerned to prepare a plan for traffic management and take stern action against illegal encroachment on the lands allotted to companies. The representatives of the NASSCOM were directed to submit a list of such encroachments for further action.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Noida Rama Raman also assured the NASSCOM representatives that single window clearance would be maintained in the head office of the authority.
The CEO also directed the Chief Architect Planning of the authority to prepare a plan for naming the roads as most of the roads in Noida are not named which makes it difficult to locate addresses. The representatives also expressed their concern over increasing pollution due to an open drain near Noida-Greater Noida expressway. The CEO assured that she would address the issue at the earliest.
