Ink smeared on Yogendra Yadav’s face at Delhi rally

The incident took place when Yadav was addressing the media at a women’s day event at Jantar Mantar. A man, later identified as Sagar Bhandari, attacked Yadav from behind and smeared his face with ink. During the attack, several policemen and AAP supporters including women were present. He was nabbed by female AAP supporters. Bhandari received injuries and was admitted to a hospital. Yadav, meanwhile, continued to address the media and said, ‘I don’t know who he was or why he did this. He only said, ‘Bharat Mata ki jai.’

During investigation, it was learnt that Bhandari used to work at an AAP office in Delhi and was unhappy with AAP’s functioning. ‘I am not embarrassed by the ink on my face. I only wish better sense prevails over the brother who did this,’ Yadav said.

Reacting on the incident, Arvind Kejriwal, former chief minister, Delhi, said, ‘This will happen. When you walk on the path of truth, then all these difficulties come your way.’
