Infrastructural projects get lion’s share in authorities’ budgets

The authorities, while announcing their annual budget on Wednesday, said that priority has been given to complete ongoing projects related with metro rail, water, power, sewer, road transport and parking. The authorities have also announced several new projects.

The third industrial development authority of the district, YEIDA (Yamuna Expressway Induatrial Development Authority), too announced several infrastructure related projects during its scheduled board meeting on Wednesday.

The officials, while talking to the media, said that Noida has finalised a budget of Rs 8,887.11 crore and Greater Noida Authority has decided to spend nearly Rs 7,000 crore. The Noida Authority has allocated Rs 1,500 crore for land acquisition and has decided to spend Rs 1,300 crore alone on metro expansion, sanctioned Rs 450 crore for construction of power sub-stations, Rs 200 crore for extending water pipe lines along with scores of other announcements. The authority has also allocated additional Rs 1,900 crore for the same fiscal.

“As metro rail between Noida and Greater Noida will prove to be a milestone in the growth of the region, we have prioritised the project. We are also looking for expansion of the existing metro line from City Centre to Sector 62 and Kalindi Kunj to Botanical Garden,” said Rama Raman, Chairman and CEO of both the authorities adding: “As we had announced multiple infrastructural projects earlier, we have decided to spend half the amount of the budget on these projects also.”

As far as Greater Noida is concerned, it has categorised two types of development — internal and external along with special projects which include night safari, river front, convention centre on the lines of India Habitat Centre, parking lots and medical university. The authority has announced to spend Rs 1,603 crore for special projects, Rs 266 crore for internal development while Rs 204 crore for external development. A whopping Rs 3,300 crore has been allocated for land acquisition.

The YEIDA, however, has presented a road map for developing its areas as per the ‘Master plan 2021’. The authority said it is also keen to develop a new township on 20,000 hectare land with metro connectivity under ‘Multi Model Transport System.’ It has also identified 100 acre land for an industrial hub. The authority has also planned to spend Rs 12,080 crore to ensure water supply, drainage and sewerage network before 2031 in its areas.
