Inexplicable LPG price policies

The government’s policy towards LPG is completely inexplicable. Hours after raising cooking gas prices, the government, late on Thursday, has put it on hold. The government claims that the economy is in dire straits but it raised the price of LPG on the same day. And, hours after doing so, it goes slow on its decision and does not implement it. By all accounts, the government appears not to have changed its mind as this hold on the rise in the price of LPG seems only temporary. Why this vascillation in policy? Are there differences of opinion in the cabinet? If so, those ministers in the cabinet, who do not agree with the decision should come out clean before the public and indicate what exactly is happening, for the people of the counrty just cannot make any sense of these constant price hikes and dips.
It is also a valid question whether the government is following a sound economic policy or taking decisions dictated by political concerns? And what about the election laws that do not allow the taking of such decisions so close to the election time?
Neither was there any immediate need to raise these prices nor does there seem to be any justification for putting this hike on hold. The political parties in power should not be allowed to make economic decisions for its immediate political gains. Does the government not realise that these unaccountable fluctuations in prices plays havoc with the middle class in particular, when prices keep jumping up and down like this.
The government had already hiked the LPG prices before as it has allowed the hike in petrol prices many times as well.
While salaries are not rising, the prices of several other commodities are going up astronomically. The middle class is suffering while the politicians in power seem to be living comfortable lives and making hay while the sun shines. Why is this government following an anti-people policy? Why is there no clarity on economic policy? And why are not the allies, who are together with the Congress, not consulted fully in all these matters? Do not these allies realise the cost of sticking with the Congress when it takes such decisions?
The people of the country are entitled to know why this government keeps taking stands and changing them after a while.
