Indian Film Festival to be held in Vietnam

In an attempt to promote Indian film industry across the world, Indian Film Festival Worldwide (IFFW) is going to hold a six-day film festival where popular Bollywood films will be showcased to the Vietnamese audience.

Titled ‘Indian Film Festival Vitenam’ (IFFV), the event will take place from December 18-23 at National cinema centre, Hanoi, Vietnam. 

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra , Umesh Shukla and Producer Rahul Mitra will be the chief guests at the event. The festival will bridge the gap between the two entertainment industries in the world – Vietnam and India. The festival will showcase more than six films from or about India which include the names of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, 3 idiots, Oh My God!, Wake Up Sid, Paheli, Jodhaa Akbar, Dil Chahta Hai, Maqbool, Taare Zameen Par and others.

During the Film Festival, Indian film makers will attend a seminar titled “Vietnam –India Cinema Cooperation and its role in Promotion of Tourism” with a view to make films in Vietnamese locations. Indian Film Festival Worldwide (IFFW) is the organisation behind promoting the diverse perspectives of the Indian diaspora by supporting emerging filmmakers, recognising the leadership of entertainment industry performers. RC Dalal and Rahul Bali are the two founders of the organisation. 

The Directors in focus will be Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Umesh Shukla who have directed movies like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Oh My God! respectively. Accompanying them will be Bollywood producer Rahul Mitra who has produced films like Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, Bullet Raja and has recently  taken over as CEO of Wave group’s film business.

The film festival will also see the presence of Preeti Saran, the Ambassador of India to Vietnam. JD Institute of Fashion Technology is the fashion partner of the event. 

The IFFV aims at developing a deeper understanding and appreciation of Indian cinema and culture in the 21st century. The new generation of Indian producers and directors is now seeking to re-launch Indian cinema on Vietnam’s big screen. The festival provides programming and activities that no other film festival in Vietnam offers and serves a community of Indian and international filmmakers that has the potential of reaching a crossover audience. IFFV offers the Vietnam community a unique opportunity to learn about India’s multi-faceted culture and long history of filmmaking.

The festival has received an overwhelming show of support from members of the Indian Film fraternity who have committed their time and resources to make the Festival a showcase of the best creative talent from India and around the world.
