India to come out all guns blazing against Bangladesh, Aus lock horns against WI

On paper, it will be a ‘David versus Goliath’ contest as Bangladesh are no match for an Indian team who are now being considered as serious contenders for the title.

But the fickleness of the shortest format means that a gritty fight from the Tigers can’t be ruled out against some of the biggest names in world cricket.

On current form too, there has been a big difference between the two teams as they get ready to lock horns at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

The Indian team’s confidence has certainly shot up after their wins against quality opposition like Pakistan and defending champions West Indies. In both matches, it was only one team that was in total control.

Chris Gayle will be itching to get back to his power-hitting ways when West Indies lock horns with Australia, who will depend on Glenn Maxwell’s pyrotechnics, during their crucial Group 2 League encounter of the ICC World Twenty20 here on Friday.

With scores of 34 and 48 in the two matches, no one can say that Gayle is not scoring runs but the strike-rates of 103.33 and 100 in the two games against India and Bangladesh tells a different story.

Australia is no mood to take him lightly as wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Haddin made it amply clear. ‘I think we have seen over T20 cricket for a long time that Chris Gayle is one of the most destructive batsmen along with Shane Watson.’
