‘India-Nepal-China ties need to be enhanced for peace,stability’

There is a need for greater trilateral cooperation and collaboration among India, China and Nepal for their prosperity and economic development as well as establishing regional peace and stability, delegates attending a conference here said on Thursday.
Think-tanks, scholars and experts from the three countries stressed on enhancing trilateral cooperation in areas such as infrastructure development and trade and investment during the symposium organised by Nepal Institute of International and Strategic Studies.
‘Nepal, India and China need to cooperate in the areas of hydropower, tourism and telecommunication so that the people of the three countries can benefit from such a cooperation,’ former Chinese vice minister for foreign affairs, Zhang Weichao said.
‘As the three Asian countries have deep cultural foundation and enjoys very much cordial relations, we should utilise their wisdom for the benefit of our people,’ Zhang said, addressing the symposium on the theme ‘India-Nepal-China Trilateral Cooperation in the Context of South Asia’.
Former Indian Ambassador to Nepal K V Rajan said, ‘We should change our mindset in viewing regional issues as Nepal, India and China are not the same on Thursday as they were ten years ago.’
