Delhi government has decided to carry out third party independent meter-testing for domestic electricity consumers in the city. The service will be provided free of cost to the consumers.
The decision has come after several complaints were received by the power department regarding fast running metres and inflated electricity bills.
According to power department’s official sources, if any consumer wants to file a complaint about inflated electricity bills or faulty meters, s/he is should submit his or her application together with their mobile number or landline number and send it along with a copy of the recent bill to district deputy commissioner’s office.
Power department officials said that out of all the applications received, 10,000 meters will be randomly selected for checking by an independent agency and based on the results, further action will be taken by power department.
