In light and shade

Layering, grading, texturing and highlights are the keystones of Sangeeta Gupta’s works. Experimenting with various tools Lines of Light breaks the barriers of the still and sets in motion a journey of creative transitions. The mystical and magical entwine in its onward movement.

Lines of Light, a very special exhibition of paintings by the poet, painter and film maker Gupta will be on display at the Azad Bhavan, IP estate.

The show can be viewed between 11 am to 6 pm. Dr A PJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India will be the chief guest on 5 August. The inauguration will be followed by a short recital by Meeta Pandit, the well-known Hindustani classical vocalist.

Sangeeta paints the fabric of life, from the inner depths of her consciousness as she experiences triumph, restraint and peace. The colours are muted, oft tinted with gold and silver, expressions of success, growth and fulfilment, like a magic carpet transcending the clouds. They emanate calm, balance and equanimity exuding from within.

Sangeeta Gupta started her artistic journey with intricate drawings.  Her real calling was discovered in her abstracts in oils and acrylics on canvas.

Her solo shows with Kumar Gallery launched her love for contour within the abyss of colour; the works seemed to stir both within and without and splash off the canvas.

Her tryst with art is born of her own meditative ruminations in time, the undulating blend of calligraphic and sculptonic entities are all realms that she has explored with aplomb.

Images in abstraction that harkens the memory of Himalayan journeys and inspirations, the works speak of an artistic sojourn that continues in a mood of ruminations and reflections over the passage of time. This one’s for the art lovers - head over!

WHEN: 2 August – 7 August, 11 am – 6 pm
