In Jan, 218 fined for travelling in ladies’ coaches in Metro

Around 218 passengers were de-bordered & fined who were travelling in coaches reserved for ladies in the Delhi Metro in the month of January 2016. Last year around 3,724 male passengers were de-boarded from the ladies coaches. 

Meanwhile, 39 people were found walking on the Metro tracks in January 2016. Last year around 306 persons were found walking on the Metro tracks.

“It is observed that large numbers of male commuters are driven out daily from the coaches reserved for ladies. On an average, 25 to 50 male commuters are penalised daily. An offender is fined Rs 250 for travelling in ladies’ coach,” said Hemendra Singh, CISF spokesperson.

According to the data provided by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is responsible for the security of Delhi Metro network, have detained 35 pick pockets in January 2016, among them 8 were males while 27 were females. In 2015, 267 pick pockets were detained by the CISF in which 21 were males and 246 were females.

CISF personnel identified 38 people who were carrying illegal arms with them in Metro premises last year. 

As many as 32 incidents of security breach were also reported when a person entered in the Metro premises from the exit area without security check. 

However, this year, till the end of January CISF have recovered 46 firearms from passengers.
