Imposter posing as MHA’s security officer held for duping people

A 42-year-old man posing as the chief security officer to the Union Home Ministry and the son of a former special commissioner of Delhi Police has been arrested for duping around 100 persons of crores of rupees by promising them a trip to Russia. He himself landed in the police’s net when he posed as a complainant while later in the investigation it was learnt that he is the accused.
The matter came to light on late Monday when Anchit Chawala went to a police post in Dwarka and ordered the policemen to arrest a mobile shop owner claiming that he had cheated him of
lakhs. Chawla introduced himself as the chief security officer and told them he is the son of former Delhi Police Special Commissioner B S Brar.
It was learnt that he drove a Scorpio car fitted with a red beacon which also had government of India written on the number plate. Later, when the cops verified his identity with Brar it was learnt that his children were not staying in Delhi. When the mobile shopkeeper was questioned, he told police that Chawla has cheated him.
