IMA serves legal notice to producers of ‘Gabbar is back’

The Indian Medical Association on Tuesday sent a legal notice to the makers of “Gabbar is back” demanding for immediate removal of objectionable scenes from the movie and also pay a compensation of Rs 5 crores to doctors for damaging the reputation of medical professionals and doctors. A team from IMA consisting Padma Shri Awardee Prof A Marthanda Pillai, national president Dr SS Aggarwal, national president-elect and Padma Shri Awardee Dr KK Aggarwal and the secretary general have issued a joint statement saying that in accordance with the Cinematograph Act, 1952, and other provisions of law, the director, producer and actor are responsible for ensuring that no part of movie <g data-gr-id="18">incites</g> commission of any offence.
It should be noted that the controversial movie scene shows doctors intentionally treating a dead patient to make money. As per IMA, the movie has done massive damage to the dignity of <g data-gr-id="24">medical</g> profession in addition to provoking public sentiments against it. The association has also sent a notice to the Central Board of Certification to ban the film with immediate effect till <g data-gr-id="22">removal</g> of objectionable scenes and has demanded written apology from producers in national newspapers.
