IM terrorist held by ATS in M’nagar

Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested Indian Mujahidin (IM) terrorist Mohammad Salim alias Patla under Khatauli police station of Muzaffarnagar district on Thursday night. IGP of Meerut, Alok Sharma confirmed the arrest of Salim after 22 years of search. Salim, a close aid of arrested IM terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda, was wanted in several terrorist attacks in the country and was active in Western UP after sporadic violence in the region last year. Two passports and several indiscriminate documents were seized from him.
According to police, the terrorist, who has been wanted in after killing two PAC personnel by lobbing a bomb at a PAC camp near Hapur Adda in 1993 and Hasimpura Kand in Meerut later, has been living at Moradabad district since several years and was arrested when he had come to meet his accomplices. As police had no photograph of Salim, his identification was made after few hours of his arrest.
Police official informed that after after both incidents six of his accomplices including mohammad Ayub and Jabbar were arrested while Salim managed to escape. Thereafter, he came in contact with Abdul Karim Tunda and other Kashmiri terrorists. He spent several years in Pakistan and reportedly came to India two-three years back. He become active after communal violences across the West UP and said to be visited several relief camps in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli. He became underground when another terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda, who has trained him, was arrested by Delhi Police earlier and his name was surfaced after Bijnor blast in last month.
