Illegal weapons seized

A special Unit of Delhi Crime Branch busted a gang of arms suppliers and arrested two persons on Sunday. A huge quantity of illegal arms and a Maruti car were also recovered.
SBS Tygai, deputy commissioner of police (Crime and Railways), said, ‘The men were identifeid as Saurabh, 24, chief of the gang and Vinay Pawar, 23. A 9 mm carbine machine gun, 8 pistols, a revolver and 38 live cartridges of different bore were recovered from their possession.’
‘There is a possibility that these weapons were for gangsters and criminals in Delhi and NCR,’ said Tyagi. The Carbine machine gun is estimated to cost Rs 2 lakh.
A special unit of the Crime Branch got a secret input about the supply of these sophisticated weapons and a team was formed to apprehend the accused.
They were arrested near IP Extension, when they came to deliver the consignment.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the illegal trade and said they have been supplying weapons for the last two years.
