Illegal NGO into alleged child trafficking, busted

Delhi Police have busted a child trafficking gang with the arrest of three persons, police said on Tuesday. During the raid, one child was also rescued from their possession.

According to police, information was received from the Director of Women and Child Development that they have received a complaint of illegal sale of child mostly of newborns done by an NGO — Rashtriya Janhit <g data-gr-id="28">Jansewa</g> Sansthan operating from Dwarka. 

On <g data-gr-id="23">enquiry</g> it was found that the NGO was unregistered and was not listed by <g data-gr-id="22">state</g> government for adoption under CARA (Central Adoption Resource Agency) guidelines.

It was learnt that the NGO was involved in suspicious dealing which called for police assistance to unearth the truth. “Accordingly a trap was laid and decoy customers were sent pretending to be husband and wife in need of a child to Rashtriya Janhit <g data-gr-id="40">Jansewa</g> Sansthan and they fixed the deal for a male child at Rs 4.20 lakh. They were told to do the registration first and a sum of Rs 8000 was paid as registration charges on June 4. 

They were assured by one Vinod Kumar, who was running the office, that they will get proper documents of adoption of child and birth certificate of the child showing them as their natural parents,” a police official said.

“On June 8 they were told that actually two children were ready, one is newborn and the other one is about 2 years old amongst which they can <g data-gr-id="34">choose</g> but the rate is Rs 5.5 lakh. They agreed to pay the amount. Receiving the information, a raid was planned and Vinod was arrested. Two more persons identified as Shikha Choudhary (28) and Anil Pandey (27) were also arrested who were found along with a child of about 2 years. They offered the child for purchase and adoption.”
