IGNOU spreads wings, looks towards international presence

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is offering its programmes in 43 countries across the globe through 81 partner institutions.
IGNOU is likely to increase its cumulative enrollment further, under the umbrella of the Pan-African e-Network Project, which is delivered with the assistance of virtual technology and quality learner support services. Under this project, IGNOU is offering MBA (Human Resource) MBA (Marketing), MTM, BTS, DTS, CTS, DAFE, DECE, and CES programmes to students from the African continent.
The main objective of the division is to establish and promote bilateral and multilateral partnerships between IGNOU and educational institutions outside India.
International Division is also engaged in promoting capacity building in distance education methodologies for development of academic and administrative human resources of the Open Universities besides sharing its academic resources with such institutions.To meet its objectives, this Division has adopted a four-fold approach of collaboration, expansion, coordination and competition.
Sources said, ‘The process of teaching is through tele-education, with two-way audio-video optic fiber link between the state-of-the-art studio located at the electronic Media Production Centre, IGNOU and the respective Learning Centres in Africa.’
‘The International Division as the single window of operations in IGNOU is assigned the task of promoting the academic programmes of the university in the overseas, to collaborate with International organisations /institutions in their capacity building and to promote networking with various International Education Institutes of the overseas.
