IGNOU organises conference on mental health

‘Mental health is more crucial than physical health and needs to be promoted in India.’ It was stressed on the second day of the national conference on mental health and well being – issues challenges and strategies for the future at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
The conference was inaugurated by Prof N K Chadha, head, Department of Psychology, University of Delhi, who also released the souvenir of abstracts of papers presented. The conference was addressed by Prof Kapil Kumar, director, School of Social Sciencs (SOSS) IGNOU, Prof VimalaVeeraraghavan, professor, psychology, SOSS. Prof S D Sharma, professor, Institute Of Human Behavior And Allied Sciences, New Delhi, Prof B N Gangadhar, psychiatrist and former HoD, Deptt. of Community Psychiatry, NIMHANS, Banglore, Prof Manju Mehta, professor and head of Clinical Psychology, AIIMS, New Delhi, among others.
Participants emphasised that given the present situation of our society, the need of mental health and well-being is evident in every aspect of our life – at school, in workplace, and in our personal life.
