IGL to slash CNG, PNG prices

Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), a joint venture of GAIL (India) Ltd, BPCL and Government of NCT of Delhi on Thursday announced <g data-gr-id="32">reduction</g> in the selling prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in NCT of Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad from Thursday.

This revision in prices would result in a decrease of Rs 0.80 per kg in the consumer price of CNG in Delhi and Rs 0.90 per kg in the consumer price of CNG in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. The new consumer price of Rs 37.20 per kg in Delhi and Rs 42.60 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad would be effective from the intervening night of October 1 and 2. The price of CNG in Delhi remains lowest in the country.

IGL has also announced <g data-gr-id="26">reduction</g> in its domestic PNG prices from Friday. The consumer price of PNG to the households in Delhi has been reduced by Rs 0.70 per <g data-gr-id="17">scm</g> from Rs 25.35 per <g data-gr-id="18">scm</g> to Rs 24.65 per <g data-gr-id="19">scm</g>. Due to differential tax structure in the state of Uttar Pradesh, the applicable price of domestic PNG to households in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad would be Rs 26.15 per <g data-gr-id="20">scm</g>, which has been reduced by Rs 0.90 per <g data-gr-id="21">scm</g> from existing Rs 27.05 per <g data-gr-id="22">scm</g>. IGL is supplying PNG to over 6,00,000 households in the region.

With the revised price, CNG would offer over 56% savings towards the running cost when compared to petrol driven vehicles at the current level of prices. When compared to diesel driven vehicles, the economics in favour of CNG at <g data-gr-id="27">revised</g> price would be over 17%. IGL is currently catering to over 8,50,000 CNG vehicles in the Capital, which include nearly 5,50,000 private cars.
