Indraprastha Gas Limited [IGL], the sole supplier of CNG and PNG in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad, conducted a mock drill on Friday, at its three installations to check for its emergency preparedness.
The drills were conducted at CNG stations located on Jail Road, opposite Tihar Jail and in Millennium Park DTC depot. The mock drill was also conducted at City Gate Station for Noida located at Nandan Kanan Park in Noida. These drills were conducted at the three locations for over an hour in the morning. A team of officials from Bhopal, led by Rakesh Dubey, Director, DMI Bhopal, supervised the drill with the support of four external observers, all of whom experts with vast experience in the field of safety preparedness.
The situation of fire was simulated at all the three locations as an attempt to check the response time and the time taken by IGL team to put a situation like this under control in case of any disaster. The Emergency Control Room was also made operational at IGL Bhawan during the drill where the situation was constantly monitored by the management.
Later, the observers reviewed the emergency response and preparedness of IGL team at the closing meeting held in IGL Bhawan by viewing the live video footage of the drills from all the three locations. The observers appreciated the execution of drill IGL team and their well coordinated response to emergency situations. They suggested that such drills may be conducted on a regular basis so that the team is always prepared for handling exigencies. The observers gave valuable suggestions for inclusion in the EMRDP of IGL.
