ICSI President launches Companies Act (2013) video primer on YouTube

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) President CS S N Ananthasubramanian on Friday launched a comprehensive primer on Companies Act, 2013. The institute has developed a set of 16 videos explaining several aspects of the Companies Act, 2013. Three of the videos were launched on Youtube on the occasion of ICSI's Foundation Day and the rest will be uploaded on the Internet soon.
Ananthasubramanian while launching the primer said, 'The Institute is conscious of the need to reach the masses across the country, which is only possible if the education is free. Therefore, the institute is leveraging technology through Mass Online Open Courses (MOOCs) to provide free education on the company law.' He further said that the set of videos provide a free education to anyone who is even remotely interested to know about the law and will also be easily available on the institute's website soon.
The videos explain the fundamental provisions of the company law though interactive discussions with experts from government, industry and academia. Leading advocate, Somasekhar Sundaresan will be the anchor in all the episodes. The institute also launched a Corporate Compliance Executive Certificate program whose objective is to create a group of skills oriented compliance professionals to provide support services in the secretarial departments of companies.
During the event, secretary of ICSI M S Sahoo said, ' We have taken this initiative because the company law plays an important role. It regulates and affects the entire country and it is our duty to educate the citizens about various properties of the law.'
