IAS officer behind key projects of the city govt to leave for US to pursue studies

N Vasanth Kumar will be leaving for the United States of America for the next two years to pursue higher studies. Kumar, who is a 2004 IAS batch officer, will be pursuing two courses in the USA which is Masters in Public Policy from Princeton University, New Jersey and Masters in public health from John Hopkins University, Maryland Baltimore. The duration of each course is one year.
Kumar was the special project officer in the major projects like the completion of Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College and reformation of Centralised Accident Trauma Services (CATS) ambulances and played a pivotal role in the Delhi government in the fields of healthcare reforms.
He was also involved in various other health-related projects in the city. Based on sources Kumar was also playing a lead role in the project of digitisation of all hospitals of Delhi.
Believed to be tech-savvy, Kumar had taken an extra interest in the setting up of the control room at Laxmi Nagar that will track the movement of CATS’ ambulances on a realtime basis. Kumar was also involved in the the expansion of Dr BSA medical college along with working on the projects of opening a medical college at Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital and a medical university in Dwarka.
Kumar, for his works in the healthcare sector has been praised immensely by CM Kejriwal and Dy CM Manish Sisodia during the inauguration ceremonies of Dr BSA medical college and the launching of 110 hi-tech CATS ambulances.
Praising Kumar, Manish Sisodia on Sunday had said: “It is young and dynamic officers like Kumar who give the government a good name.”
Laxman Singh Rana who was working with Kumar in the reformation of CATS said: “Kumar was a doer who believed in taking quick decisions and then implementing it.”
