While all eyes were set on Arvind Kejriwal as he moved to Ramlila Maidan to take oath of office, Sunita accompanied her husband in the Metro although keeping a low profile.
When asked about her husband’s success in politics and how she feels about his becoming the chief minister of Delhi, Sunita smiled and told Millennium Post: ‘I really don’t bother about such things. I just want him and my children to remain least affected by all this and just concentrate on their work. I treat his work like any other job. He will serve the people for a good cause.’
Kejriwal was also accompanied by his father Govind Ram Kejriwal on his historic journey to the Ramlila Maidan. The senior Kejriwal, 70, a retired government official, said that he had offered a special prayer at a small temple in Ghazibad in the morning.
‘I prayed to god so that my son should be able to deliver on the promises he has made to the people of Delhi,’ the senior Kejriwal told reporters. Kejriwal’s mother Geeta Devi is scared though. She spends sleepless nights fearing that her son, who has dared to question the high and mighty, may come in the way of harm. She fears for his life. But she adds in the same breath that she is proud of her son’s courage.
