Husband goes absconding after wife is found dead

After attending a family wedding, a woman was found dead in her apartment in Krishna colony in Gurgaon on Tuesday morning. The city police’s initial investigation revealed that her husband, the main accused of the case, Amit (36) had strangled her in their apartment.

Police officials revealed that after talking to the deceased’s family the police got to know that husband, Amit and the wife Sangeeta (30) had got into a heated argument over some personal issue after which he left the house.

The incident took place on Monday evening after which the husband took his eight-year-old son and dropped him at his maternal grandparents’ house in Islampur village. When questioned about Sangeeta, the husband informed her family that since she was not feeling well he was taking her to see the doctor.

The incident of murder came to light when Sangeeta’s brother called her in-laws on Tuesday morning to enquire about her well being. In response to him, the in-laws told her brother than Sangeeta’s body was found on the bed on the second floor of the house.

There were no immediate arrests. “Amit strangled Sangeeta to death after a heated argument between them over some issue. Since Monday night, Amit has been absconding after leaving his son at his in-laws’ house in the nearby Islampur village,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police Hawa Singh.

The Gurgaon Police have also registered a case against Amit and his parents under Section 302 (murder) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
