Hung assembly, AAP to be single largest party: Survey

A Hindi news channel on Monday predicted a hung Assembly in Delhi. The channel has claimed that no single party will get a clear majority like the previous assembly elections. The opinion poll predicts a cliffhanger between  BJP and AAP, with latter bagging between 31-35 seats, it projects 29-33 seats for BJP. The survey was conducted between 11th to 15th January, covering all  assembly segments in Delhi.

The channel, claimed that the opinion poll reflected the political mood in Delhi. It claims that AAP’s intense campaign, and taking up populist issues gives Kejriwal’s party the edge with a 38 percent vote share followed closely by BJP with 37 percent.  Arvind Kejriwal continues to be the top pick for the chief minister’s post, with 40 percent respondents backing him. 38 percent Delhiites feel that BJP can provide a stable Govt.

The channel further said 31% people talked about price rise, while 23% about corruption. For 16 percent, employment was the major issue while only nine percent voiced concern over water/electricity issues. 38 percent felt AAP was their best bet to solve these vexed issues, while 37 percent placed their hopes in BJP. 40 percent Delhiites picked Arvind Kejriwal as CM candidate, followed by Dr Harsh Vardhan (19%)  and Kiran Bedi (15%).
