With the winter nip gradually fading away, perhaps this is the best time to get a taste of something exotic. Not for the tastebuds though, it is more for the intellect. Institut Francais En Inde has organised French Film Festival as part of Bonjour India 2013. A set of six French films will give you a taste of life and love, the way the French do it.
An array of the latest French releases have been put together by the French Embassy in India, Institut Français, Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Alliance Française as an extension of the Bonjour India celebrations that also got in Ballet Preljocaj in January.
A package of six films will be screened at PVR Anupam Saket everyday starting from 22 February till 24 February. Kicking off the festival on the first day at 6 pm would be a 2012 release Populaire, directed by Régis Roinsard. Populaire stars Romain Duris, Déborah François, Bérénice Bejo and Shaun Benson. Next comes In the House (Dans la Maison) also directed by Régis Roinsard, starring Fabrice Luchini, Ernst Umhauer and Kristin Scott Thomas.
Day 2 will have animated film Zarafa, directed by Rémi Bezançon, Jean-Christophe Lie and written by Alexander Abela, Rémi Bezançon. Zarafa is the only movie open to children in this festival. Hand in Hand (Main dans la Main) directed by Valérie Donzelli starring Valérie Lemercier, Jérémie Elkaïm and Béatrice De Staël is also scheduled for 23 February.
The last day will have The Dandelions (De vent dans mes mollets), directed by Carine Tardieu, starring Agnès Jaoui, Denis Podalydès and Isabelle Carré. And the festival comes to a close with Camille Rewinds (Camille redouble) which is directed by Noémie Lvovsky, starring Noémie Lvovsky, Samir Guesmi and Judith Chemla.
All films will have English subtitles and passes will be available 45 minutes prior to each show at the box office. Only one pass will be issued per person. Seating at the festival is on first come, first serve basis and passes will be restricted according to the capacity of the hall. People below 18 years of age are not allowed to attend the festival except for the single screening of Zafara on 23 February.
So head over, pick your films, or alternately see them all and add a nice French twist to a regular February weekend.
