How did others get hold of Budget copies?

Delhi Assembly Speaker Yoganand Shastri, on Tuesday, asked Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to file a report on how senior officials, sitting in officers gallery in the house, got hold of copies of the budget when it was being presented by her.

The ruling by the Speaker came after Leader of Opposition V K Malhotra moved a notice of breach of privilege against the Chief Minister on how certain officials got the copies of the budget when it was not even given to the MLAs.

The senior BJP leader even demanded Dikshit's resignation on the issue terming it as a case of 'serious breach of privilege'.

'The TV channels were showing copies of the budget in the hands of the officials much before the budget was given to the MLAs. How did it happen? It is a serious issue of breach of privilege,' Malhotra said.

'The Chief Minister should resign from her post as it is a serious matter. She should take responsibility for it,' he added.

Responding to Malhotra's demand, Shastri asked Dikshit to find out the details and inform the House about the whole issue.

'The Chief Minister will have to follow rules and she will file replies,' said the Speaker.
