House Strikes down ‘Tea Budget’ of Leaders

The house meeting of North MCD on Monday struck down the ‘tea budget’ of leaders as leader of opposition, Mukesh Goel, called it discriminatory and opposed it. In the final budget of 2013-14, an increase of Rs 1,000 per month was proposed in the expenses of leader of opposition but an increase of Rs 4,000 per month was proposed in the expenses of leader of house and chairman of standing committee. However, the expenses of ward committee chairman and other committee expenses was increased by Rs 2.22 lakh per annum.
