Hit-and-run case: Trinamool youth Cong leader held, released

Police arrested Kanishka Majumder, general secretary of Trinamool Youth Congress from Kasba, on charges of a hit-and-run case that took place on Bijon Setu on Thursday night. 

He was later released on a bail bond of Rs 500. Majumder, however, claimed that he was not in the car when the incident took place. 

Police said after speaking to the people who witnessed the accident that the car hit a security barricade on Bijon Setu. It lost control after hitting the security barricade and run over a pedestrian after colliding with a taxi. 

The pedestrian was admitted to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
