Hindustan Mitsubishi dangles lower price for Pajero Sport

Hindustan Motors, in technical collaboration with Mitsubishi Motors, on Friday announced a reduced price of Rs 22.56 lakh [ex-showroom New Delhi] for the Pajero Sport with immediate effect, following local production of the Pajero Sport model at the Hindustan Motors plant in Tiruvallur near Chennai. The Pajero Sport was earlier priced at Rs 24.43 lakh [ex-show room New Delhi].
Announcing the start of production of the Pajero Sport in the Tiruvallur plant, Hindustan Motors Limited Managing Director Uttam Bose said that the company was happy to extend the price benefit to its customers as India has in the recent past seen an increased desire for SUVs and the Pajero Sport will further consolidate its position in the Indian market.
‘With the Pajero Sport, we are looking at capturing 20 per cent of the premium SUV segment in the country and since it is being locally manufactured, the production numbers are set to increase to over 400 units since the plant has the capacity to scale up operations based on market requirements. The manufacturing quality of Pajero Sport CKD is as great as the CBU quality and the dealers too are happy with the end result.’
‘With changing lifestyles, customers are looking for vehicles that are used just not on roads but also off-road. The Pajero Sport doubles up as an entertainment vehicle,’ he added.
