Hindu immigrants from Pakistan claim Indian govt has not provided any aid

Hindu immigrants, recently arrived from Pakistan, have alleged that they’ve not received aid from the Indian government.

These immigrants, arriving in various groups, are living in Bijwasan village, near the border with Harayana. Nihaar Singh, an ex-army man and a social worker, has provided temporary shelter for these immigrants. People living in these temporary accommodations, said that due to constant religious persecution in Pakistan,  they fled to India.

Nahar Singh, a resident of Bijwasan, providing assistance to the immigrants said, ‘They’ve lived in my premises without any trouble and fear. But they are in serious need of a helping hand from the government’.

Singh said that two letters requesting aid were sent to deputy commissioner, south-west district, Kapa Seda. Copies of the above letters were sent to the President, Ministry of State (Home Affairs), Ministry of External Affairs and the Lieuteneant Governor of Delhi. ‘We have received no reply or aid’, Singh added.

Madhu Maani (32), an immigrant, said, ‘When life was getting miserable there, we then decided to move to India. We arrived in India on 5 October, 2013. Since then there has been no help from the government.

Another immigrant, Krishan Laal (36), said, ‘I was living near Hala city, at Jaafar Sehto village. I have faced the atrocious treatment there. Somehow I managed to escape into India. However, there is no sign of relief or no aid from the Indian government’.
