The Himachal government is considering to introduce gender budgeting system in various departments of the state from the next year.
Disclosing this here on Sunday, the chief secretary S Roy said that the aim of gender budgeting was to gauge the levels of development of women folk and the extent of their empowerment through various schemes implemented by the government.
Under the gender budgeting system, each department would have a separate budget for women to enable them to benefit in employment and also help the state government to know that in which department the role of the women could be more conducive, especially in the professions of teaching and nursing.
Roy said that a few states in the country have introduced this system and the Union ministry of Social Justice has also prepared a scheme to give grant and financial assistance to the state governments who would introduce the gendering budgeting system.
