High Court asks UP govt to probe Gumnami baba’s links with Netaji

In an important direction, Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Thursday ordered the UP government to set up a high level probe committee to find out whether Gumnami baba alias Bhawgwanji who stayed in Faizabad was actually great freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Cahandra Bose or not.
The court also ordered the state government to construct a museum at Faizabad or Ayodhya where all the articles of Gumnami baba and of Netaji would be kept.
A division bench of the court comprising Justice D P Singh and V K Dixit asked the UP government to complete the probe within three months time and the committee should comprise of a retired High Court judge, a senior official and an expert.
The direction of the court was given in a petition filed by Ms Lalita Bose, niece of Subhash Chandra Bose and A M Halim along with one another 27 years back.
