Delhi police special cell on Friday night arrested three persons in connection to the Rs 8 crore robbery case that took place near Moolchand flyover last Tuesday. All three are first-timers, but the kingpin, whose name is present in the Delhi police dossier, is still absconding. Delhi police had earlier arrested the juvenile domestic help of Rajesh Kumar Kalra, the victim. On the basis of the domestic help’s confession, Delhi police conducted several raids and with the help of Punjab local police, a team of special cell apprehended the three accused and recovered around Rs 1.5 crore. SN Shrivastav, special commissioner of police (special cell) said, ‘The accused have been identified as Gulzar Ali alias Bhola, Parveen and Tilak Raj alias Tinku, all residents of Chhatarpur area. On Friday night, they were arrested from Chandigarh.’
However, a source in Delhi police told Millennium Post that they have surrendered before the special cell as one person from their gang was in touch with a team member of the cell. He told police about their willingness to surrender. Soon after the robbery, south-east district police detained Kalra’s driver and domestic help. On the basis of the confession of the domestic help who was working at Kalra’s house for the past one and a half years, the investigating team got a tip-off.
He confessed his involvement in the crime and alleged that he shared the information to Shiv Shakti Naidu, the kingpin.
Millennium Post had reported that kingpin is a resident of Madangiri and had used a grey Volkswagen Jetta car during the crime. ‘A manhunt is on to nab Naidu who has most of the robbed money with him. Also, raids are being conducted to nab five other accomplices,’ the official added.
‘The accused fled with the money and in the evening met near Mahipalpur flyover to distribute share. They escaped to Dalhousie and Chamba,’ a police official said.
