Helmet factory gutted, two dead

Two persons were killed in a blaze in a helmet factory at East Delhi’s Jwala Nagar area of Vivek Vihar on Thursday evening. The deceased have been identified as Neeraj (21) and Deepak (24). Police have registered a case against the factory owner.
According to the fire department officials, the incident took place at around 4.16 pm on Thursday when fire broke out inside the factory in gali number three of Jwala Nagar area of Mukesh Nagar. The victims were working there as labourers in the factory.
As many as 18 fire tender vehicles were rushed to the spot to douse the flames along with many PCR vans. Rescue operations were carried out for some time. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained by the fire department. The bodies were taken to a nearby hospital.
According to a senior police official, a case has been registered at the Vivek Vihar police station against the owner of the factory. Further investigation is underway.
