Heavy rains bring down temp to 290C in city

According to the scientists at Regional Meteorological Centre, Delhi, rainfall at Safdarjung observatory from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm was recorded at 10.5mm while it was 64 mm at Palam observatory for the same period. The rainfall was heavy in bordering areas of Haryana as Jafarpur recorded 49 mm and Ayanagar recorded 41 mm of rain. 

Interestingly, Akshardham received only 1 mm of rain while Noida got 6 mm of rain. “The rainfall was heavy in areas bordering Haryana while it was less in areas adjoining Uttar Pradesh,” said a senior officer of RMC, Delhi. 

The weathermen have predicted generally cloudy with moderate rain and thundershowers for Saturday while maximum and minimum temperatures would hover around 30 and 25 degree Celsius respectively. 

On Friday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 29.1 degree Celsius which was five points below normal while minimum temperature settled a notch below normal at 26.5 degree Celsius. 

“Delhi has so far received 290 mm of rain which is 11 mm higher than average 265 mm rain for till date,” added the officer.
