Heat fails to keep students away from DU open house

Scorching heat failed to deter thousands of worried students and guardians from queuing up at the eight day of open house held at SP Jain Center, South Campus on Friday, to get their queries the admission procedure for Delhi University’s (DU) four year programme answered.

Some students and parents instead of getting their doubts cleared regarding the admission procedure, showed more interest in asking and knowing the reason behind the implementation of the newly-introduced model.

Some parents felt that the Delhi University officials were not allowed to answer multiple questions and also avoided some valid questions.

The removal of the entrance test for admission in English Journalism and Common Admission Test for English (CATE) has disappointed the students.

Students said that  ‘the entrance test is the only hurdle which every student wants to break by showing his eligibility and need for a particular subject. It is important to have this test because it will decide the capability of the aspirant and his/her interest in the subject.

Sanjay Singh from Ghaziabad, an anxious father, who was looking for the admission of his son through the sports quota was not satisfied by the information given by officials, because the councillors did not give him appropriate information on the same.

Umesh Rai, director of South Campus was also present in the session and cleared the doubts of some students regarding the availibilty of OMR forms in many centers of DU and in how many courses they can apply while filling the admission form.
