Headless body in Timarpur canal sends shockwaves

News of a body found with its head chopped off shocked people residing near the canal at North Delhi’s Timarpur area on Tuesday afternoon.
A police team was sent to the spot immediately and later it turned out that that the head of the unidentified body was covered with silt accumulated on the bank of the canal. The deceased was a man aged between 25 and 30 years. The body was later sent for post-mortem.
The body was discovered not very far away from the Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan around 1.30 pm, said a police official. “From preliminary investigation, it appears that the deceased was hit on his head with a blunt object and then his body was dumped into the canal. However, the post-mortem report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause and time of death,” said Madhur Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North). He further said that a case of murder was registered against unknown persons at the Timarpur police station immediately. The police are now checking for missing reports at nearby police stations.
