HDFC Bank’s Q2 profit up 20.5%

Private sector player HDFC Bank on Wednesday reported 20.5 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 2,869.5 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2015-16. The bank had earned Rs 2,381.5 crore profit in the same July-September quarter of the last fiscal, 2014-15.

The banks total income for the September quarter this fiscal was Rs 17,324.3 crore, up from Rs 13,894.7 crore in the year-ago period. 

"After providing Rs 1,492.2 crore for taxation, the Bank earned a net profit of Rs 2,869.5 crore, an increase of 20.5 per cent over the quarter ended September 30, 2014," the HDFC Bank said in a 
regulatory filing. 

Gross non-performing assets (NPAs) were at 0.9 per cent of gross advances as of September 2015, marginally lower from 1 per cent a year ago. The net NPAs were at 0.2 per cent of net advances.
