The Delhi HC on Friday pulled up the MCDs over the on-going strike in the Capital. The court said that it is the responsibility of the MCD to keep the national Capital clean.
The MCD employees are protesting demanding payment of salary dues. This despite the Delhi government extending Rs 551 crore loan to the civic bodies for payment of salaries.
The MCD employees are demanding a permanent solution to the problem. The North MCD Commissioner had on Thursday warned if the agitating employees do not resume duties with “immediate effect”, their names will be sent to the HC for creating “nuisance” even as the strikers vowed to continue the protest. East MCD Commissioner Mohanjeet Singh in an order said the salaries of striking employees will be released soon after receiving funds from Delhi government. He also directed the head of departments to ensure the employees resume duty “immediately”.
