After hearing arguments from representatives of private schools and the Delhi government on Tuesday, a division Bench of the Delhi high court, headed by Justice Manmohan reserved its judgement on the Delhi government order of scrapping of management quota in nursery admissions.
Speaking to Millennium Post, S K Bhattacharya, President, Action Commitee Unaided Recognised Private Schools, said he felt the arguments from his side were stronger and was wishing that the case will go in their favour. He however, refused to go into the details of the case as it was sub-judice. Bhattacharya rubbished claims when asked if they were being pulled up by the court on the issue of management quota and increased number of barriers that were set for the admissions of the nursery students.
R C Jain, Chairman, Delhi State Public Schools Management Association said, “We expect the order to come by February 4 because as per the nursery admission guidelines set by the department of education Delhi by February 5 we would have to upload the points of the students who have applied so that the first list can be put on February 15.” According to Jain, the court said that since there were dearth of public schools in Delhi and government schools were not up to the mark, the closing down of private schools was not a choice.
